I usually let my daughter play with my Too Faced palette (as I don't use it anymore) and an old, foundation brush. She usually pretends to use it but yesterday she actually used it and created a magnificent smokey eye look. I can't wait to post pictures later!
So this isn't going as swimmingly as I originally intended. I was hoping I could pop in here at least every other day - I am right now forcing myself to write something just so this thing doesn't gather too much dust. Sorry, I'll try to have something better next time.
Anyway - right now I am eating this pumpkin cream cheese muffin (Starbucks if you want to get one). It's not so much the "muffin" part but the big mound of cream cheese in the center. I am trying to eat around the cream cheese and save it for last. Mmmm...
Halloween was celebrated in the usual sort of way: trick or treating then a late dinner at In-N-Out. We walked around for an hour and half carrying slightly weighty toddlers - that counts as working out right? So I think I earned myself a burger, fries and soda? No? Si!
I was going to hit the elliptical but I got tired so instead I ate some Kit Kat and passed out while watching The Thin Blue Line. The end.
Trying to get into this "thing" again... vox is kind of a bitch to use and I'm so rusty when it comes to blogging. Sorry (to anybodies/anybodys/any body reading this out there) if this seems a bit hodge-podgey.
At the brainwashing of various youtube makeup gurus, I found myself at CVS today. I picked up a bottle of Revlon ColorStay (oily/combination skin formula, "Early Tan" shade) and couple of other doodads. The shade is a good match for my skin tone (not too orange or pink, which is usually the case for me) and feels pretty smooth (a tad on the heavy side but I'm afraid such is the case when one wants better coverage). I'm glad I didn't spend twice as much on a high-end brand while I was at Sephora a couple of days earlier.
So yah, I've been trying to get back into the habit of grooming myself nice and proper like I used to. I kind of fell down that slippery slope of letting myself go *eep* but I put my foot down and said, "Family, I give ya'll nearly every hour of my day! I'm taking one hour back for myself!" It's harder than it seems.
But I feel better and ready to face the day when I pull myself a notch above that "just rolled out of bed" look.
Happiness comes when your work and words are of benefit to yourself and others.

It's not enough to be compassionate — you must act,
- Dalai Lama
Fame increases for the one who stands alert,
Mindful, and of pure deeds;
Who with due consideration acts, restrained,
Who lives dhamma, being aware.
- From the Dhammapada
Obviously, Buddha lived long before Paris Hilton and her ilk!
Just as the soft rains fill the streams,
pour into the rivers and join together in the oceans,
so may the power of every moment of your goodness
flow forth to awaken and heal all beings,
Those here now, those gone before, those yet to come.
By the power of every moment of your goodness
May your heart's wishes be soon fulfilled
as completely shining as the bright full moon,
as magically as by a wish-fulfilling gem.
By the power of every moment of your goodness
May all dangers be averted and all disease be gone.
May no obstacle come across your way.
May you enjoy fulfillment and long life.
For all in whose heart dwells respect,
who follow the wisdom and compassion, of the Way,
May your life prosper in the four blessings
of old age, beauty, happiness and strength.
- Traditional Buddhist blessing and healing chant
The ordinary acts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suspect.
- Thomas More
Walking along a mountain path
I find a sandal-print in the moss,
a billowy cloud low on the lake,
grasses growing up to a door,
a pine tree shimmering green,
a brook gurgling along from the mountain,
and as I mingle with Truth among the flowers,
I have forgotten what to say.
